Our location along the US-Mexico border provides the opportunity to care for the Latino population and experience border health issues. Our residency was developed as a project of the San Diego/ Border AHEC (Area Health Education Center), which emphasizes health education in underserved areas. We focus on a commitment to care for the underserved in our selection process and curriculum.
Chula Vista is a thriving community of 202,000 in the South Bay region of San Diego County. Chula Vista is the second-largest city in the County. Chula Vista is bordered by its harbor on the west and mountains to the east. Recreational activities include the beautiful Marina Park, Nature Center and ARCO Olympic Training Center. In July, 1998 the Coors Amphitheater opened and is proving to be a very attractive venue for concerts. Chula Vista is approximately seven miles from both downtown San Diego and Mexico.

Because of it's close proximity to the Mexican border, the city of Tijuana plays an integral part in our community's culture, and provides excellent oppurtunities in international and border medicine.
