Where our graduates go...
The Scripps Family Medicine residents are a diverse and committed group of physicians who have a strong
desire to improve healthcare access, education, and delivery to communities in need. Graduates have
successfully attained subspecialty fellowships, government health services positions, and employment at
various community-based clinics and private practice locations. More than 75% of our graduates enter into underserved areas to practice medicine. A few examples of our recent grads....
Chrissy Capati- Chrissy is a National Health Scholar, which requires her to work in rural and underserved communities. She has chosen Hilo, Hawaii, as her site, and will be practicing in a local clinic, as well as coordinating the community's adolescent medicine and women's health services.
Brian Sullivan- Brian is a National Health Scholar, and has chosen the US territory of Saipain as his site. Saipain is a small Pacific Island, near Guam, with limited medical resources. He will have a broad range of job responsibilities, including clinic work, ER, hospital and ICU call, and NICU work.
Carrie Nguyen- Carrie will continue to serve the Southbay community, and is working within the San Ysidro Clinic system, spending time in the Chula Vista Family Clinic, and the Otay Family Health Center. She will also take hospital call with the residents starting in the coming months.
Bethany Lynn- After graduating, Bethany will return home to rural Washington, and work with the family phsycian that cared for her and her family while she was growing up. Working in a rural community, she will have a broad range of responsibilities.
Marilyn Calderon- Marilyn remains in the Chula Vista community, joining a private practice of a prominent family physician in the Scripps Chula Vista community.
Sonya Christianson- After graduating, Sonya completed a fellowship in Hospice/Palliative Medicine with the San Diego Hospice organization. She is taking her expanded skill set to New Zealand to help establish palliative care in that region.
Willard Chung- Will has remained in the Southbay community, and is currently working in the Imperial Beach Family Clinic, a local beach community health center, founded by one of our grads. He takes medicine call with residents several times a year.
